You can't escape

You can take the boy out of Kearny but you can't take the Kearny out of the boy. I remember a time when I was serving in the Marine Corps (back in the early 80's) and I was in a bar in San Diego. I was with a couple of guys from my platoon having beers when I struck up a conversation with a man with a thick Scottish accent. When I told him I was from Kearny he nearly dropped off his stool. He told me how much he heard about it and asked if it were true about the fish and chips and Scottish butchers and bakers. The man became an instant friend and bought round after round of beer for me and my mates. So ya see, sometimes it pays to be a Kearny boy.
